MAKO TE is a small IR translator designed to bring compatibility to the IR tank battlefield. Two versions are available; one optimized for use with the Heng Long MFUs (27 MHz and 2.4 GHz) and one optimized for the Taigen 2.4 Hz MFU. Any Heng Long or Taigen tank equipped with a MAKO TE is able to battle with Tamiya compatible systems as well as Heng Long AND Taigen systems.

Installation is very simple. The 5 pin cable connecting the existing battle unit to the MFU is removed from the MFU. The supplied 5pin MAKO TE cable is plugged into the MFU's IR port and the other end connected to the MAKO TE input (left side). The battle unit is plugged into the MAKO TE output (right side).

Optional indicator LEDs may be connected to the LED port (top middle) V0 is on the middle pin, 5V+ (marked) is on right. NOTE: This is a 5V supply and a current limiting resistor of 220 ohms is required. The optional BlueRing is recommended as this unit has appropriate resistors already included.

Pin Outs

Input IO:
Battery V+: Direct supply from Tank battery - used to power both MAKO TE and the IR emitter
Trigger V0: A connection to V0 is used as the trigger to fire IR signal
V0: Ground, V-
IR signal out: IR hit signals are sent on this wire back to the MFU
5V+: 5V supply (not used by MAKO)

Output IO:
IR V+: Positive supply for the IR emitter
IR V0: V0 for the IR emitter
V0: Ground, V-
IR signal in: IR signal from the IR receiver/s
5V+: 5V supply used to power IR receiver/s

LED IO:
From left to right
NC, V0, 5V+
This connection is used for the attachment of indicator LED/s. Users can connect their own LED to these pins or use a BlueRing.
NOTE: This is a 5V supply if you are using your own LEDs you must have a current limiting resistor. There is no need for this resistor if using a BlueRing as the BlueRing already has such a resistor installed.

Connection Examples

NOTE: In the examples below the existing factory 5pin cable connecting CN2 (IR Port) to the battle unit has been removed for clarity. This cable removed from CN2 is plugged into the output port (right) of the MAKO TE.
