Re: Rathaus Builders Forum
Well I guess I'll start off with how far I have got with the top floor
As you can see I have printed the very top row of files (Top Floor sections 1-6 inc the corners). Underneath this row is the top floor spacer row which provides the distance between the actual top flooring and the widow sills. I have not designed and printed all of this row as yet. Already I can see that filler/putty is going to be your friend on this build.
I included the Pz III just to show exactly how big the ruins will be
Happy Rathausing

Hi Kevin,
Ive caught you up now, I’m definitely going for 3 floors though
I’ll have to sort out some image hosting so I can post some pics on here.
An I on my own? I think I might be addicted, time drags every week waiting for the next update..
Thanks Kevin
Cheers

Hey Wayne
Looks great. Everyone will be asking about that bay window. It adds a bit more variance - did you design it? Would anyone else like a similar style window? Three floors will be huge. I thought about it but chickened out.
I'll do my best to get all of the top floor spacers out in a zip by the end of this week. Sorry but way laid on the 3D design and print front working on a FRS 8 speaker box for a TIger and "radical" new smoke unit design.
Cheers

Hi Kevin,
Alas I am at the very beginning with cad, it will be a while before I design anything of use lol
I found the bay window on Thingiverse, it’s not very good to be honest, the top is not symmetrical & the vertical beams in the side windows are not in the middle. It will be useable after it gets the soldering iron treatment lol
Anyway here’s a link
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2047224
I just evenly scaled it up so it was the same height as the Rathaus windows.
Cheers

Hey Wayne
I think the above was your last post that needed approval so all your subsequent post should appear right away. I guess that is good news in a way about the bay window because I copied it to fit in with the design of the side windows. I did originally try to copy more exactly but the Rathaus doesn't have any curves around the windows so I took the curves out so edges are square like all the others. By chance the inserts for the side windows fitted well for all three faces so even better for continuity.
Finally finished all top floor spacers will post them in the next few hours.
Cheers

Re: Rathaus Builders Forum
I heard ya missed me, I'm baaaack.
Not sure why, Kevin, but I had to re-register as the site didn't recognize my email. Guess that's what happens when you stay away so long, so we'll try not to let that happen again.
Anyway, I see you've met my buddy Wayne. A really great guy and an avid printer.
I can't tell you how pleased I am with this entire project. I think what you're doing with the Rathaus is just great and I'll be following along and using the parts not only to build a rathaus, but to spruce up all my other buildings as well.
Can't wait to see the radical new smoker design!

New forum mate - everyone has to re-register and everyone has to go through the 2 first posts with approval before your posts appear right away.
New smoker design is a not a universal one - Shape and placement of smoker will depend on the type of tank. First one is for the Tiger 1 and mounts to the actual back plate rather than sitting on the floor. Allows me to put in a FRS 8 speaker in a big box and still have a decent smoke unit.
Tested prototype last night and all good so far
Cheers
