Hi there diverfrost
With the tracks i go for a dark brown all over then drybrush with gunmetal or silver.
Dont worry to much with detail cause i find a good run in the dirt and dust finishes them off just great.

If you are still waiting for decals you should stop right where you are. For waterslide decals you will need to give your tank a coat of hi gloss. Gloss takes a good day or two to dry properly. You should always apply waterslide decals to a gloss surface. Also make sure you use some decal setting solution as well. Once decals are dry put on yet another coat of gloss. This is the best way to ensure your decals look 'painted on'.

Once you have put on that last gloss coat finish your weathering and when done seal it all with dullcote.

Paint job

For the tracks all I do is (I use spray cans) after undercoat, spray Matt black then run a light spray of brown for a light rust affect, I don't over do rust
Then with a brush highlight the cleats and a light brush over the rest of the tracks to get any raised parts metallic paint ( or silver etc...)
