If you want to upgrade your HL's to include IR battle capability then you will have to get the TVF-10 series of SGS Modules. Along with these modules the most important thing that you will need to get is a new 2.4 gHz Radio Transmitter.

The best option by far is the Turnigy 9X radio as it is quite cheap and a very good radio. It becomes a truly EXCELLENT radio when the factory firmware is replaced by any of the available custom firmware options. RC Tanks Australia has modified one of these firmware options to make it a little more Tanker friendly. It called tankER9X and is available free for download. However, you must make some modifications to the standard 9X to be able to change the firmware.



Your new 2.4 gHz radio will be able to control all of your upgraded tanks so you need to buy only one radio Transmitter. However, inside each tank you will need to get a receiver unit.

WRT the IR battle functions. Currently, the SGS battle units will convert your Heng Longs to the Tamiya Battle System and once converted you will not be able to battle with other Heng Longs. However, as you may of caught on I am working on a few little circuit modifications that will change this and make battle between Heng Longs and Tamiya compatible tanks possible. If you already have Heng Long tanks with the IR function then that is great as these components are able to be used in the SGS upgrade.

Finally, the hardest part - sound. To get a good sound you must not only have a good sound source but also a good speaker. The standard Heng Long speaker is not a good speaker. Visaton FRs-7 speakers with an impedence of 4 ohms are the recommended speaker. Now the hard part here depends on what tank you are putting the speaker into. Tigers and anything bigger can hold the speaker without major modification. Panzer IVs and IIIs will require you cutting out the battery box to make room and more than likely changing to a LiPo battery to power your tank.

The actual install of the SGS system into your Heng Long can be done in a matter of minutes using the Heng Long adapter board.
